Cross-Team Metrics Studio
A six-module programme that treats business analytics for cross-team data coordination as a craft: definitions, ownership, reconciliation, and the social work of getting two teams to trust one sheet.
Learning outcomes
- Write metric definition cards that name source systems, grain, and known exclusions.
- Produce an ownership matrix covering primary owner, consulting teams, and escalation paths.
- Design a weekly reconciliation ritual that fits UK working rhythms.
- Facilitate a short critique session when neighbouring teams disagree on a number.
- Decide when tool changes are needed versus when the language of the metric is the real gap.
Modules
1. Mapping the disagreement
Inventory the metrics that cause recurring conflict. Interview neighbouring teams without turning the session into a blame meeting.
2. Definition contracts
Translate fuzzy phrases into source-backed definitions. Practice negotiating exclusions with finance-style scrutiny.
3. Ownership matrices
Assign who updates, who audits, and who may publish externally. Cover holiday coverage and temporary stewards.
4. Handoff rituals
Design the Monday note, the exception list, and the “numbers freeze” window before board packs.
5. Reconciliation under pressure
Work a case where extracts disagree. Document tolerance bands and when to escalate to engineering.
6. Pilot and widen
Run a two-team pilot, gather feedback, and write criteria for expanding the grid — or stopping cleanly.

FAQ
Do I need advanced SQL?
No. You should be comfortable reading extracts and asking engineers clarifying questions. Module 5 references joins conceptually but does not teach warehouse engineering.
Can two teams join together?
Yes — Shared Grid is designed for pairs. Command Table packs are better when more than two handoffs are in scope.
What is a real limitation of this course?
We do not implement or license BI tools for you. If your source data is inaccessible or undocumented, you will need engineering time outside the programme before some artefacts become useful. We will flag that early rather than pretend templates alone fix broken pipelines.
Are sessions timed for GB?
Live workshops run in UK daytime slots. Recordings are available for async catch-up within the cohort window.
